I remember cooking as natural instinct ever since childhood. As a toddler my mom gave me my own cupboard in the kitchen where I could keep my toys that I needed in order to "help" her in the kitchen. Ever since I have been collecting more kitchen toys and have been involved with food. If you look for me at a party, I am found hanging out in the kitchen with everyone else.
I have worked in a wide variety of food situations and my favorite are always the ones that are closest to the source. I have hung out in the greenhouse in the dead of winter; creating life. I have also slaughtered in the spring and carved in the fall. To me it is all energy and it must be gathered from the purist source with the utmost respect. These are the sustaining blocks for our life as humans.
I believe that the best food you will ever taste will be from a location close to you, close to your home, close to your heart. There is nothing like cooking a meal from your own garden. Unfortunately not everyone has the time or the space to realize this special occurrence all of the time. That is why I LOVE living in the town of Portland! It is truly a blessing to be involved with the food scene right here and right now. I select the best ingredients that I can and sculpt my menus in accordance to Mother Nature's yield and your cravings. I hope that you will have a chance to sample my vision.
